Lincoln Nautilus vs. Cadillac XT5: Compare Midsize Luxury SUVs near Cleveland, OH

With its classy accommodations, potent performance options, abundant practicality, and executive style, the Lincoln Nautilus represents an appealing choice among midsize luxury SUVs. It's comfortable, spacious, and satisfying to drive. It's also generously equipped with myriad amenities, including large displays and standard Lincoln Co-Pilot360â„¢ safety technologies.

The Lincoln Nautilus exemplifies the automaker's signature brand of American automotive luxury. While the premium midsize SUV segment has numerous options for shoppers seeking to upgrade their daily drives, the Lincoln Nautilus delivers a compellingly complete package that's hard to match. To provide a few examples, here's a look at how the Lincoln Nautilus compares in a few key areas to another American class competitor, the Cadillac XT5.

Lincoln Nautilus vs. Cadillac XT5: Performance

The 2023 Lincoln Nautilus is powered by a standard turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 250 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. A smooth, precise 8-speed automatic transmission sends the power to the front wheels and helps optimize responsiveness and efficiency. Intelligent all-wheel drive is available for Standard and Reserve models (included in Lincoln Nautilus Black Label), providing surefooted handling and control for wintry Cleveland commutes. The Cadillac XT5 also comes standard with a 2.0-liter turbo-four, but it falls behind with 235 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque.

Are you seeking something more potent to power your Parma, OH, drives? A twin-turbocharged 2.7-liter V-6 is available for Lincoln Nautilus Reserve and standard in Lincoln Nautilus Black Label, increasing performance to 335 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque. The Cadillac XT5 Sport utilizes a 3.6-liter V-6 engine. But with 310 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque, it can't keep pace with the Lincoln Nautilus's upgraded powerplant.

Lincoln Nautilus vs. Cadillac XT5: Interior

Both midsize luxury SUVs provide comfortable cabins, but occupants will enjoy more personal space in the Lincoln Nautilus, which offers more shoulder room and hip room for passengers in both rows. Taller occupants will particularly appreciate the Lincoln Nautilus's extra front and rear legroom, which exceeds the XT5 by 1.6 and 0.6 inches, respectively.

While you'll have flexible storage options in either vehicle, the Lincoln Nautilus holds a significant edge in cargo-carrying utility. With all seats upright, the Lincoln Nautilus retains 37.2 cubic feet to store your luggage, gear, or groceries. For Cleveland outings and errands requiring even more capacity, the EasyFold rear seatbacks fold quickly to reveal 68.8 cubic feet. The Cadillac XT5's cargo area measures 30 cubic feet behind the second row and 63 cubic feet behind the first.

Lincoln Nautilus vs. Cadillac XT5: Technology

The 2023 Lincoln Nautilus's cabin is an impressive technological showcase. All models come standard with a large and intuitive 13.2-inch SYNC® 4 touchscreen, providing seamless access to hands-free calls and messages, your favorite music, and an available Connected Built-in Navigation with up-to-the-minute weather, traffic, and parking availability. Or, if you prefer your smartphone's familiar interface, you can integrate it cable-free via wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. Behind the steering wheel, a customizable 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster lets you conveniently view important driving metrics, infotainment details, and turn-by-turn directions without turning away from the road.

The Cadillac XT5 has wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto; however, it's limited to an 8-inch touchscreen with no available upgrade. It also has an optional driver information center, but it's an 8-inch display and is relegated to a package add-on.

Both models come standard with advanced driver aids like forward collision mitigation, lane-keeping assistance, parking sensors, and automatic high beams. However, the Lincoln Nautilus Standard also includes a Blind Spot Information System and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert. The systems require a higher trim in the Cadillac XT5.

Lincoln Nautilus vs. Cadillac XT5: Features

  • The Lincoln Nautilus comes standard with driver-position memory settings and power-folding side mirrors, while the XT5 reserves these for higher tiers.

  •
  • The Lincoln Nautilus has available high-end Revel audio systems with 13 or 19 speakers, while the XT6 offers a Bose sound system with 8 or 14 speakers.

  • The Lincoln Nautilus offers superior ergonomics with available 22-way power-adjustable Ultra Comfort Seats and Active Motion® massage. The XT5 is limited to basic 8-way adjustability and doesn't offer massage.

  • Lincoln Nautilus Reserve and Black Label models include adaptive static headlight bending technology for improved visibility around corners. The Cadillac XT5 has fixed cornering lamps but not steering-responsive headlights.
